Biofuels for cleaner container shipping

The maritime biofuel project initiated by the Dutch Sustainable Growth Coalition (DSGC) has led to more interest among shippers for green shipment of products in sea transport. As a result Maersk has introduced the ‘eco delivery’ concept for companies such as H&M that want to reduce the GHG-emissions of goods transport in sea-containers. The shipping sector gains a growing experience with the use of blends with biofuels. Boskalis is even operating a dredging vessel on 100% biofuels.
